Dr. Tangelia Alfred-Gentles

Dr. Tangelia Alfred-Gentles is Dean of Math, Science, Kinesiology and Curriculum at Los Angeles Southwest College (LASC) one of nine colleges in the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD). At LASC, she has administrative responsibility for key areas in Academic Affairs. Prior to her appointment as Academic Dean she served as Dean of Student Services at LASC. Her collective experience in LACCD extends more than 18 years. She is a veteran educator with strong community ties. During her time in LACCD, she has prided herself in being a strong advocate for students, faculty, staff and the community. She is a board member for the I Have a Dream® Foundation, Los Angeles, and has been actively involved in the following organizations Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH), Association of Black Psychologist (ABPsi), Association of Black Women in Higher Education (ABWHE), Association of California Community College Administrators (ACCCA), Black Women’s Health Foundation and the Kaleidoscope Leadership Institute.

Tangelia holds a BA in Criminal Justice from California State University Bakersfield, a MA in Education-Counseling from San Diego State University and an Ed.D from California State University Long Beach. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, son and daughter.
